Charlie Kirk, conservative commentator and co-founder of Turning Point USA, was killed on Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, Utah.
Gatekeepers News reports that eyewitnesses and social media clips show that Kirk, aged 31, was taking questions from students under a tent during a “Prove Me Wrong” Q&A session when a gunshot struck him in the neck.
The activist collapsed immediately as panic broke out, with attendees screaming and scrambling for safety. His security team rushed him to the hospital, but he later died from his injuries.
In a post on Truth Social, Former U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed Kirk’s passing. He described him as the great, and even legendary, and offered condolences to Kirk’s wife, Erika, and their family.
He wrote, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead.”
“No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie.”
“He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
The president also directed that American flags nationwide be flown at half-mast in Kirk’s honour.
