ADC Declares Dumebi Kachikwu Has No Say In Party Affairs

African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said Dumebi Kachikwu, its 2023 presidential candidate, is irrelevant to the party’s leadership matters.

Gatekeepers News reports that speaking at an interactive session with journalists in Abuja on Saturday, Bolaji Abdullahi, interim publicity secretary of ADC, said Kachikwu has no standing in the party as he is no longer a member.

Earlier on Thursday, Kachikwu criticised Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for recognising David Mark as the ADC national chairman, describing the electoral body’s decision as irresponsible and claiming he never had faith in its leadership.

Responding, Abdullahi said, “He (Kachikwu) had no business in this conversation. He is not even a member of the ADC. That is very clear. A one-time presidential candidate of any party does not own the party.”

“He does not have a say in the direction of the party. You were given the ticket of the party to run a particular election. That does not make you a permanent candidate of the party.”

He further condemned Kachikwu’s divisive rhetoric and his description of the party leadership as “old people,” stressing that ADC is aware of efforts by external forces to destabilise opposition parties.
