Nigeria Seeks Finnish Support On Aviation Training And Manpower Development

Nigeria and Finland are moving to strengthen cooperation in aviation training, manpower development, and the adoption of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has announced.

Gatekeepers Newreports that according to Tunde Moshood, media aide to Minister Festus Keyamo, the minister met with Finland’s ambassador to Nigeria, Sanna Selin, on Thursday in Abuja to discuss avenues for collaboration on innovation and sustainability in the aviation sector.

“The Finnish envoy was accompanied by James Gardiner, sales representative of Vaisala, a leading Finnish technology company,” Moshood said in a statement issued Friday.

Ambassador Selin highlighted Finland’s advancements in aviation technology, particularly in training, manpower development, and the promotion of clean fuel. She said Finland was ready to partner with Nigeria to “drive innovation and knowledge transfer that will strengthen the country’s aviation industry.”

Keyamo, in response, reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to partnerships that enhance the skills of Nigerian aviation professionals and promote environmentally friendly technologies.

“To ensure progress on this initiative, the minister has set up a dedicated team to engage with Finnish partners and spearhead projects on SAF, training, and manpower development,” the statement added.

Moshood noted that the minister is committed to leveraging international collaborations to modernise Nigeria’s aviation sector, boost efficiency, and align with global best practices.
