Mbappe Scores As Real Madrid Beat Espanyol 2-0

Kylian Mbappe was on the scoresheet again as Real Madrid defeated Espanyol 2-0 on Saturday to stay top of La Liga.

Gatekeepers News reports that Eder Militao gave Madrid the lead with a stunning long-range strike in the 22nd minute before Mbappe sealed the win with another powerful effort early in the second half.

The victory means Xabi Alonso’s side have won all five of their league games, with Mbappe scoring five goals so far this season. Real now sit five points clear of Barcelona, who play Getafe on Sunday.

Defender Dani Carvajal praised the team’s form, telling Real Madrid TV, “The good thing is we’re improving in the way the coach wants, and the results are showing it. The performance was complete and we suffered very little defensively.”

Vinicius Junior returned to the starting line-up and played a key role in creating Mbappe’s goal.

England international Jude Bellingham also made his first appearance of the season after recovering from shoulder surgery, coming on late as a substitute.

Espanyol, who had started the season strongly, could not match Madrid’s intensity and remain winless at the Santiago Bernabeu since 1996.
