Governor Uba Sani has inaugurated Kaduna State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (KADSEMSAS), an initiative designed to guarantee residents quick access to lifesaving healthcare.
Gatekeepers News reports that speaking during the launch on Thursday, the Governor described the programme as a milestone in his administration’s mission to make emergency healthcare universally accessible.
He said, “Today marks a transformative moment in the history of Kaduna State. Our vision is simple but profound: no citizen of Kaduna State should be denied timely medical intervention because of distance, delay, or lack of access.”
Sani stressed that the service goes beyond the provision of ambulances, noting that the new framework is intended to save lives in situations where every second counts.
He said, “In times of crisis — whether maternal complications, road traffic accidents, or cardiac emergencies — minutes can mean the difference between life and death.”
Under the new arrangement, citizens will be able to call a dedicated emergency line that will trigger the dispatch of the closest available ambulance. Authorities expect the system to cut down response times, particularly in maternal and neonatal emergencies where delays often prove fatal.
The Governor linked the initiative to his “people-first philosophy,” highlighting reforms his administration has introduced, including strengthening Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority (KADCHMA), revamping primary health centres, and approving new salary structures for health workers.
Sani said, “We have consistently declared that access to healthcare is a right, not a privilege — this initiative is not for the privileged few. It is for the farmer in Ikara, the trader in Kachia, the student in Giwa, and the child in Kagarko. No one will be left behind.”
He added that investments are being made in facility upgrades, health worker training, and community involvement to sustain the programme.
The Governor said, “To our citizens: this system belongs to you. We urge you to use it responsibly, report misuse, and provide feedback. Excellence is a continuous journey, not a destination.”
According to him, the launch represents Kaduna’s bold step toward equity in healthcare delivery.
Sani added, “Kaduna is committed to leading the way in emergency medical innovation, and we will continue to prioritise the health and safety of our people.”
