Edo State Governor has constituted a committee to plan, organise, and execute this year’s Edo Carnival.
Gatekeepers News reports that this was announced in a statement released by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.
According to the state government, the newly constituted Edo Carnival Planning Committee will be responsible for ensuring a smooth and befitting celebration for the state.
The committee is chaired by Hon. Emmanuel Okoebor, Commissioner for Finance, while Hon. Dr. Paddy Iyamu, Commissioner for Education; and Hon. Osiobughie Okhuemoi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity serve as members.
Other members are Mr. Jackson Isangofon Monday, Special Adviser on New Media and Visual Communications; and Deborah Okunbo, Managing Director of the Edo State Public Procurement Agency.
Mosis Obakpolor, Director of Protocol at the Directorate of Government House and Protocol, will serve as the Secretary of the committee.
According to the announcement, the committee’s terms of reference include developing a comprehensive event plan, collaborating with Peak Rendezvous Entertainment Global Ltd—the lead organizers of the carnival—and fostering partnerships with key stakeholders in the entertainment industry.
The committee is also expected to liaise with individuals and corporate organizations within and outside Edo State to attract sponsorships and represent the government’s interests throughout the planning and execution stages.
The Edo Carnival, known for its vibrant cultural display and tourism appeal, is expected to further promote unity, creativity, and economic activity across the state.
