The Mayasalis Entrepreneurship and Vocational Empowerment Foundation (MEVEF) recently held its impactful annual Back-to-School Project for underprivileged pupils and orphans, titled MEVEF BACK-TO-SCHOOL PROJECT 2025.

Gatekeepers News reports that MEVEF is a dedicated non-governmental organization that operates on a non-profit, non-religious, and non-political basis, focusing on empowering individuals for self-reliance through skills acquisition and entrepreneurship. The foundation prioritizes five critical areas: vocational skills training, entrepreneurship development, agricultural education, health initiatives, and general educational support.

On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, MEVEF executed its Back-to-School Project across primary schools in the Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State, positively impacting the local community. The beneficiary schools, Idumogo Primary School and Migrant Primary School in Agor Odo, received a range of essential educational and welfare materials. These included shoes, notebooks, pens, school bags, and durable water bottles, aiming to provide these children with the necessary tools for their educational journey. Additionally, to promote health and safety, MEVEF generously donated First Aid Boxes to both schools, allowing them to address minor injuries promptly and efficiently.

The annual Back-to-School Project not only equips pupils with tangible resources but also serves as a platform for introducing them to skills acquisition through CLUB MEVEF, established in the beneficiary schools. These clubs are designed to instill important values, ethics, and a sense of community service among the students, while also teaching them about their role in contributing to national development.

Amb. Salmat Salisu Musah, known as Mayasalis and the CEO of MEVEF, emphasized the profound impact of upbringing on a child’s character and their potential contribution to society. She highlighted the significance of imparting selflessness and solid moral values from an early age, stressing that this not only shapes individual identities but also nurtures responsible citizens. In her heartfelt remarks, Mayasalis thanked the donors who made the project possible, reiterating that “HUMANITARIANISM IS NOT A PROOF OF WEALTH BUT OF SELFLESSNESS.” Notably, she founded the organization at the tender age of fourteen, despite her own personal challenges, demonstrating her commitment to giving back and fostering change.

Moreover, Mayasalis called upon Nigerian politicians and social media influencers, particularly skit makers, to refrain from using school outreach projects as mere political tools for gaining votes or increasing viewership. She pointed out that such initiatives often hinder legitimate NGOs like MEVEF, which are genuinely committed to humanitarian efforts, from securing the necessary approvals from the state education board to carry out meaningful projects. She expressed her frustration that many politicians fail to continue their support for schools after election periods, leaving communities without ongoing assistance.

In light of her observations regarding the deteriorating conditions of schools and inadequate infrastructure in Edo State, she passionately urged well meaning Nigerians to make personal sacrifices for the greater good of the nation. Mayasalis reaffirmed her unwavering dedication to Nigeria’s progress, emphasizing that it is essential for every citizen to prioritize the country’s welfare while striving for a brighter future. Her message resonated as a call to collective responsibility, advocating for a united effort toward national growth and development.
