Muhammad Bagudo, Deputy Speaker of Kebbi State House of Assembly, has been released after spending nine days in the hands of armed kidnappers.
Gatekeepers News reports that Bagudo was seized by suspected bandits on October 31 in Bagudo LGA while returning home from Isha’i prayer. His abduction prompted a joint search operation involving the police, military forces, and local vigilantes.
Confirming the development on Sunday, Nafi’u Abubakar, spokesperson for the Kebbi State Police Command, said the lawmaker regained his freedom on November 8 around 8 p.m.
The spokesperson added that Bagudo received medical attention before reuniting with his family.
The statement reads “Kebbi State Police Command is using this medium to commend the courage, resilience, and bravery of the combined team of security personnel deployed for search and rescue operations during the unfortunate incident.”
“The command also appreciates the good people of Kebbi State, who provided vital and accurate information that was used to ensure the safe return of the Honourable member.”
Abubakar reaffirmed the command’s determination to rid the state of banditry, kidnapping, and related crimes, urging residents to remain calm, stay alert, and promptly report suspicious movements to nearby security agencies.
