Newcastle United defeated Manchester City 2–1 on Saturday at St. James’ Park.
Gatekeepers News reports that Harvey Barnes scored both goals for Newcastle in the second half. Rúben Dias scored City’s only goal.
Newcastle had many chances in the first half but failed to score. Barnes finally broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute. -Dias equalised five minutes later, but Barnes scored again two minutes after that to give Newcastle the win. Manchester City could not find another goal.
The victory is Eddie Howe’s first-ever league win over Pep Guardiola after many attempts. The loss keeps Man City in third place.
At Anfield, Liverpool lost 3–0 to Nottingham Forest. The goals came from Murillo, Nicolò Dominguez, and Morgan Gibbs-White. Liverpool have now lost six of their last seven league games and dropped to 11th place.
Chelsea moved up to second after beating Burnley 2–0. Fulham also won their match, with Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi starting the game.
