Sokoto State Government has refuted reports claiming that Governor Ahmed Aliyu accompanied his Abia State counterpart, Dr. Alex Otti, during a visit to Nnamdi Kanu at the Sokoto Custodial Centre.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement by the Governor’s spokesman, Abubakar Bawa, the government said Governor Aliyu was not part of the Abia Governor’s entourage.
The state Government noted that at the time of the visit, Aliyu was in the Holy Land performing Lesser Hajj as of 30th November 2025.
According to the statement, Dr. Otti was received at Sultan Abubakar III International Airport by selected commissioners and special advisers, who escorted him to the Sokoto Government House and accorded him the customary courtesies extended to visiting state governors.
The statement added, “As you all know, the people of Sokoto are hospitable. We treat our visitors with utmost respect, irrespective of tribe or religion.”
Sokoto State Government reiterated that Governor Ahmed Aliyu holds deep respect for constituted authority, remains committed to the Nigerian project, and continues to be a peace-loving and law-abiding citizen.
