NNPC Confirms Explosion On Escravos-Lagos Pipeline In Delta

Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has reported an explosion on its Escravos-Lagos pipeline in Delta State.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement on Friday, spokesperson Andy Odeh said the incident occurred on December 10 near Tebijor, Okpele, and Ikpopo communities within Gbaramatu Kingdom.

Odeh explained that initial checks showed a pressure drop consistent with a loss of containment on a pipeline operated by NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC).

The spokesman noted that the cause of the explosion is still unknown but will be determined after a thorough investigation.

He added that the company’s immediate focus is the safety of nearby communities and environmental protection.

Emergency response measures have been activated, with NNPC working closely with local authorities and community leaders to minimise the impact.

NNPC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high safety and environmental standards.
