Nigeria’s Super Eagles will begin their quest for continental glory at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco after being drawn in Group C alongside Tunisia, Tanzania and Uganda.
Gatekeepers News reports that the three-time African champions are considered one of the favourites to lift the trophy, having come close at the last edition of the tournament. Nigeria narrowly missed out on a fourth title after losing 2–1 to hosts Côte d’Ivoire in the final, despite taking the lead.
In Morocco, the Super Eagles will be aiming to go one step further and reclaim the AFCON crown. Their campaign begins against the Taifa Stars of Tanzania on December 23 at the Fez Stadium in Fes.
Three days later, Nigeria will face familiar North African rivals Tunisia in what is expected to be a high-stakes encounter between the Super Eagles and the Carthage Eagles. The group stage concludes with a clash against the Cranes of Uganda on December 30.
At the end of the group phase, the top two teams in each group will advance automatically to the Round of 16, along with four best third-placed teams across the groups.
