Anthony Joshua returned to winning ways with a dominant sixth-round stoppage of Jake Paul in a heavyweight contest staged at Kaseya Center in Miami in the early hours of Saturday.
Gatekeepers News reports that the former two-time world champion controlled the bout from start to finish, using his reach, timing, and experience to neutralise the YouTuber-turned-boxer over the scheduled eight rounds.
The result took Joshua’s professional record to 29 wins from 33 fights and underlined the gulf in class between the two fighters.
From the opening round, Joshua dictated the pace, applying steady pressure while Paul relied largely on movement and clinching to avoid sustained exchanges.
As the fight progressed, Joshua’s jab and body work began to tell, forcing Paul backwards and limiting his opportunities to mount any meaningful offence.
The turning point came late in the fight, when Joshua dropped Paul twice, revealing visible fatigue. In the sixth round, sustained pressure and clean power shots sent Paul to the canvas again, prompting the referee to halt the contest when he failed to recover in time.
The win marked Joshua’s first victory in the United States since his defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr. and improved his knockout tally to 26.
Speaking afterwards, Joshua described the bout as a necessary step forward and turned his attention to bigger challenges ahead, naming fellow Briton Tyson Fury as a potential opponent.
He said, “We shook off the cobwebs. I can’t wait for 2026.”
“If Tyson Fury is as serious as he says he is, and he wants to put down his Twitter fingers and put on some gloves, and come and fight one of the realest fighters out there, step into there with me next if you’re a really bad boy.”
