Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for 2027 governorship race, Oloye Saheed Oladele, narrowly survived an assassination attempt while returning from a political engagement in Lagos on Sunday, December 28, 2025.
Gatekeepers News reports that this was announced in a statement released by the Director of Media and Publicity for his support organisation.
The statement said Oladele’s convoy came under attack on a major highway, with at least one vehicle in the group struck by a projectile believed to be gunfire.
Although no fatalities have been confirmed, the sudden assault sparked panic and forced his aides to take evasive action before reaching safety.
Representatives of Oladele’s campaign suggested the attack could be connected to his rising support across the state, noting that his growing popularity may be making rivals uneasy as the election draws closer.
Supporters reported that the aspirant was unharmed and continuing his campaign activities after the incident but declined to share detailed security information.
At the time of reporting, security agencies had not released an official account of what triggered the attack or whether any suspects had been arrested, leaving key details sketchy as investigations continue.
