Federal government has proposed N7 billion in the 2026 budget for the installation of solar power systems at the State House.
Gatekeepers News reports that this is part of efforts to reduce energy costs and improve power supply at the seat of government.
Details in the 2026 appropriation bill also show that N2.5 billion has been earmarked for the purchase of operational vehicles, while about N769 million was set aside for the replacement of sport utility vehicles used for official duties.
Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presented the N58.18 trillion 2026 budget to the national assembly on December 19, 2025, after it received approval from the federal executive council.
The Senate later passed the bill for second reading on December 23 as lawmakers began detailed consideration of spending plans.
The budget proposal further includes N283.85 billion for presidential air fleet logistics and management, alongside funding for national forest guard operations.
The presidential air fleet covers aircraft used for official travel by the president and other top government officials, with past budgets also making provisions for its maintenance and operations.
The forest guard programme, coordinated by security agencies and environmental authorities, is aimed at protecting forests, tackling banditry, and improving security in vulnerable areas.
Thousands of newly recruited forest guards completed training in late 2025 and are expected to be deployed across key states.
Overall, the 2026 budget allocates N5.41 trillion to defence and security, reflecting the administration’s focus on stabilising the country and supporting critical government operations.
