All Progressives Congress has rejected claims that Vice President Kashim Shettima may be replaced as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s running mate ahead of 2027 general election.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement issued on Monday, Felix Morka, the party’s national publicity secretary, described the reports as speculative, untrue, and utterly baseless.

He said the rumours gained attention following the circulation of names of individuals allegedly being considered as replacements.

“Our party states in categorical terms that the stories are purely speculative, untrue and utterly baseless,” the statement added.

The ruling party warned media organisations against spreading what it called rumours from mischievous news sources of questionable provenance. Morka said the reports were designed to create confusion and stir unnecessary tension within the political space.

APC also reminded the public that the ban on political activities remains in place in line with existing laws and electoral regulations. According to the party, discussions about future elections are premature and distract from governance.

Morka said the party remains committed to backing President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in the implementation of the administration’s renewed hope agenda.

“At this time, our party remains focused on supporting President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in delivering the administration’s renewed hope agenda, “ the statement added.

The party noted that ongoing reforms under the Tinubu administration are gradually reshaping the economy, promoting growth, and improving living conditions across the country.

It also cautioned ministers, top government officials, and party leaders against encouraging speculation, urging them to concentrate on effective service and strengthening the success of the administration.

The speculation follows developments at the APC stakeholders’ summit held in Gombe in June 2025, where tensions reportedly rose after some speakers endorsed Tinubu for a second term without mentioning Shettima.
