All Progressives Congress (APC) has reshuffled the leadership of its national convention central coordination committee, replacing Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State, with Bello Masari, a former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Gatekeepers News reports that the change was confirmed on Friday in a statement issued by Surajudeen Basiru, the National Secretary of the ruling party, who said the decision followed fresh consultations with party leaders and key stakeholders ahead of the 2026 national convention.
“In further consultation with the leadership and national stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Central Coordination Committee for the 2026 National Convention has been reconstituted,” the statement reads.
“Sub-committees of the Central Coordination Committee will be constituted and announced in due course.”
Under the new arrangement, Uzodimma, who was earlier appointed to lead the committee, has been reassigned to serve as treasurer.
The party also expanded the size of the committee from 73 to 90 members, with the inclusion of additional party leaders, including Barry Mpigi, the senator representing Rivers South-East.
Other key appointments under the revised structure include Anyim Pius Anyim, former President of the Senate, who was named Vice-Chairman I, and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, who emerged as Vice-Chairman II. Mai Mala Buni, Governor of Yobe State, was retained as the secretary of the committee.
Alongside the leadership changes, the APC released a revised timetable for its 2026 nationwide congresses, national convention, and other related activities. In a notice shared on its official X handle on Friday, the party announced updated timelines to guide the conduct of the exercise across the country.
“Adjusted APC 2026 schedule of nationwide congresses, national convention and related activities,” the notice stated.
The party said the expression of interest and nomination forms would be available only at the Directorate of Organisation, APC National Secretariat, Wuse 2, Abuja.
“The Expression of Interest Form and the Nomination Form will be available for purchase and collection at the Directorate of Organisation, 2nd Floor, APC National Secretariat, No. 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, Abuja,” the party said.
It added that all schedules had been reviewed to ensure a smooth, transparent, and credible process nationwide, stressing that only forms obtained from the national secretariat would be recognised for the exercise.
APC explained that the reconstitution of the committee and the revised timetable were influenced by zoning considerations and the party’s efforts to strengthen internal democracy ahead of the convention.
