Nigerian talents earned major recognition on Sunday, February 22, in London as the 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards celebrated standout achievements in acting and filmmaking.
Gatekeepers News reports that Actress Wunmi Mosaku clinched the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in Sinners, marking another milestone in her growing international career.
Mosaku has previously received BAFTA recognition, winning Supporting Actress at the 2017 BAFTA Television Awards for Damilola, Our Loved Boy.
Also among the Nigerian-linked winners was My Father’s Shadow, created by Nigerian brothers Akinola Davies Jr. and Wale Davies. The film won Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer, with BAFTA’s official announcement placing the project among the night’s most celebrated new entries.
Set in Lagos during the 1993 election crisis, the film follows a father and his two sons navigating the city amid political unrest.
Major Winners on the Night
Beyond the Nigerian successes, One Battle After Another emerged as the biggest winner, taking home six awards, including Best Film and Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson.
Sinners secured three awards overall, including Original Screenplay and Original Score.
