Bruno Fernandes scored a hat-trick as Manchester United came from behind to defeat Ipswich Town 5-2 at Old Trafford on Sunday, securing their first Premier League win of the season.
Gatekeepers News reports that Ipswich took the lead in the 29th minute through Leif Davis, but Fernandes equalised for United before half-time.
The hosts took control after the break when Jacob Greaves turned the ball into his own net, before Fernandes converted a penalty to put United 3-1 ahead. The Portuguese midfielder then completed his hat-trick with his third goal of the afternoon.
Bryan Mbeumo added United’s fifth goal, while Chuba Akpom scored a late consolation for Ipswich.
The victory provided a strong response from Michael Carrick’s side following their 2-0 defeat to Hull City in their opening league fixture.
At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea maintained their perfect start under new manager Xabi Alonso with a dramatic 4-3 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.
Romeo Lavia, Pedro Neto and João Pedro put Chelsea in a commanding position, but Brighton fought back with goals from Malick Yalcouyé, an own goal and Pascal Groß to level the score.
Cole Palmer eventually settled the seven-goal thriller with a late finish, handing Chelsea their second consecutive league victory under Alonso.
