Nigerian Embassy in Doha has released a new security advisory urging Nigerians living in Qatar to immediately register their presence and strictly follow all safety instructions issued by local authorities, following rising tensions in the Middle East triggered by renewed Israeli attacks on Iran.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement issued late Saturday, the embassy said the warning became necessary “in view of the evolving security situation in the region,” stressing the need for preparedness as the conflict intensifies.
Nigerians in Qatar were directed to submit their full name, residential address, mobile phone number, and scanned copies of their international passport and Qatar Identification (QID) card to the official embassy email: nigerianembassy.doha@gmail.com.
The mission also urged citizens to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary movement, and depend solely on official communication channels for verified updates. “The Embassy is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as and when necessary,” the statement added.
The advisory follows a fresh surge in hostilities after coordinated United States and Israeli airstrikes targeted several Iranian cities early Saturday. Israeli officials described the attacks as a pre-emptive operation aimed at weakening Iran’s military capacity and preventing further aggression.
In response, Iran launched waves of drones and missiles towards Israeli territory, triggering air defense operations and heightening regional tension. The escalation later widened as Iran also carried out reprisal strikes against US military installations across parts of the Middle East.
As fears of wider regional instability grew, authorities in the United Arab Emirates temporarily shut parts of their airspace, disrupting flights and placing major airports on high security alert. Other Gulf nations, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Kuwait, reviewed their aviation and security procedures amid concerns of possible spillover effects.
Diplomatic efforts are reportedly ongoing to prevent further escalation, while foreign missions across the Gulf region continue to issue safety notices to their nationals as uncertainty spreads across the region.
