President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held a closed‑door meeting with senior security chiefs at the State House in Abuja on Thursday, as federal government responds to a wave of terror attacks and heightened insecurity in parts of the country.
Gatekeepers News reports thag the nearly two‑hour session brought together heads of the armed forces and key security agencies, including the Inspector‑General of Police, Tunji Disu, who arrived discreetly for the talks.
President Tinubu and the chiefs discussed strategies to address recent assaults on military and civilian targets, with a focus on tightening coordination among agencies.
The meeting comes amid a surge in jihadist violence in the northeast, where coordinated attacks by armed groups have led to significant casualties among soldiers and security personnel in recent weeks.
Separately, the Defence Minister also summoned all service chiefs for a strategy session in Abuja to review military operations against terrorists following a series of assaults on military installations in the region.
Nigeria’s security situation has drawn domestic and international attention, with recent raids not only resulting in military losses but also civilian abductions and heightened concerns about the stability of communities in vulnerable states.
Officials are expected to follow up the high‑level meeting with operational directives aimed at improving intelligence sharing, troop deployment, and overall counter‑terrorism responses to stem the rising threat.
