The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has disbursed more than ₦2.1 billion in institutional loans to students of Osun State University (UNIOSUN) and Kashim Ibrahim University (KIU) for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement shared on its official X account on Wednesday, the fund said a total of ₦2,109,980,200 was released to support 7,382 students from both institutions across several batches.
Providing a breakdown of the disbursement, NELFUND said ₦2,038,534,000 was paid to 5,924 beneficiaries at UNIOSUN across six batches.
For KIU, the fund disclosed that ₦47,638,900 was disbursed to 955 students in the fifth batch, while another ₦23,807,300 was released to 503 students in the sixth batch. This brought the total disbursed to KIU students to ₦71,446,200 for 1,458 beneficiaries.
According to NELFUND, the disbursement highlights its commitment to widening access to higher education and supporting students financially.
The agency noted that the initiative is part of efforts to ensure that no qualified student is unable to pursue tertiary education due to financial challenges.
