At least 11 people have been killed and more than 50 houses destroyed following a violent communal clash in the Akyawa and Udege Kasa communities in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Gatekeepers News reports that the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Friday, April 3, 2026, reportedly began as a reprisal attack after the alleged killing of two persons.
The violence led to widespread destruction as armed groups invaded the communities, burning homes and forcing residents to flee. Nasarawa State Police Command confirmed the deaths and property destruction, stating that suspected hoodlums carried out the attack.
The Commissioner of Police, Shetima Mohammed, visited the affected areas and assured residents that efforts were ongoing to restore peace and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Security operatives have since been deployed to the area, and a manhunt has been launched to track down those responsible for the attack.
