Lagos State Government has announced partial road closures across major parts of the state ahead of project inaugurations to be performed by Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Gatekeepers News reports that the closures are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, April 8 and 9, to ensure security and smooth coordination during the official events.
The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said motorists should plan ahead and avoid affected routes to reduce disruptions.
He explained that the inauguration of the Opebi-Mende link bridge will take place on Wednesday between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., with traffic expected to be heavily impacted around Opebi, Allen, Ikeja, and Ojota corridors.
Osiyemi added that activities scheduled for Thursday within the same time frame will affect movement in Olodi Apapa and Ajegunle due to the commissioning of the Tolu Schools Complex.
He further disclosed that another event will be held later in the day between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Victoria Island, particularly around the Eko Hotel axis, warning motorists to avoid the area or expect delays.
Traffic management officials, including personnel from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), will be deployed to control vehicular movement and minimise congestion during the period.
The planned inaugurations are part of a broader two-day working visit by President Tinubu, during which several infrastructure projects—including bridges, schools, and public facilities—will be officially unveiled across the state.
Residents have been urged to cooperate with traffic authorities and consider alternative routes as the state prepares for the high-profile events.
