Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday represented President Bola AhmedTinubu at the inauguration of key infrastructure projects in Lagos, despite the president being present in the state.

Gatekeepers News reports that Akpabio commissioned three major projects: Ojora–Opebi link bridge, Lagos Geographic Information Service (LAGIS) building, and Bola Ahmed Tinubu Administrative Complex. These projects are aimed at improving transportation, land administration, and public service efficiency in the state.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the Ojora–Opebi link bridge is expected to ease traffic congestion in one of the city’s busiest corridors, reduce travel time, and improve daily commuting for residents.

He also noted that the LAGIS facility will modernise land processes by reducing reliance on manual systems, while the administrative complex will enhance coordination among government agencies.

The presidency explained that Tinubu’s absence was due to pressing national security responsibilities. Presidential aide Sunday Dare stated that the president has been occupied with ongoing security briefings, particularly in response to recent developments in parts of the country.

Dare emphasised that although Tinubu is currently in Lagos, he has been prioritising intelligence updates and security matters over ceremonial functions, underscoring the administration’s focus on addressing security challenges nationwide.

The projects were initially scheduled to be inaugurated by the president as part of a broader rollout of infrastructure initiatives across Lagos, highlighting continued collaboration between federal and state governments.
