Game Of Thrones Actor Michael Patrick Campbell Dies At 35

Michael Patrick Campbell, known for his role in the hit TV series Game of Thrones, has died at the age of 35 following a battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Gatekeepers Newreports that his death was confirmed by his wife, Naomi Campbell, who said he passed away on April 7 at a hospice in Northern Ireland.

In a heartfelt tribute shared online, she described him as someone who “lived a life as full as any human can live,” adding that he was defined by “joy, abundance of spirit” and “infectious laughter.”

She noted that he remained a source of inspiration not only during his illness but throughout his life.

Campbell, who also went by Michael Patrick, appeared in the sixth season of Game of Thrones as a wildling rioter. While television brought him wider recognition, he was more widely celebrated for his stage work across Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom.

In 2025, he earned a major theatre honour for his performance in a reimagined production of Richard III, in which he performed from a wheelchair. The role earned him a standing ovation and the Judges’ Award at a leading UK theatre ceremony in London.

The production, co-created with writer Oisín Kearney, was staged at prominent venues including the Royal Opera House in London and the Lyric Theatre in Belfast, Campbell’s hometown.

The adaptation reinterpreted Shakespeare’s tragedy through the lens of illness and physical decline, drawing directly from Campbell’s personal health experience.

His performances were widely praised for their emotional depth and physical intensity—qualities that became even more pronounced following his diagnosis.

Campbell is survived by his wife, who also expressed gratitude to those who supported him throughout his illness.
