Catholic Bishop Of Abakaliki Diocese Passes Away

The Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki has been thrown into mourning following the death of its bishop, Peter Nworie Chukwu.

Gatekeepers News reports that in an official statement released by the diocese, the cleric was said to have passed away after a period of illness. His death marks a significant loss not only to the Catholic community in Ebonyi State but also to the wider Christian faithful across Nigeria.

Bishop Chukwu, who served as the spiritual head of the diocese, was known for his dedication to pastoral work, commitment to education, and efforts in promoting peace and moral values within society. During his tenure, he played a key role in strengthening church institutions and expanding evangelism in the region.

Religious leaders, government officials, and members of the public have continued to express grief over his passing, describing him as a humble servant of God who devoted his life to the service of humanity.

The diocese stated that burial arrangements and funeral rites will be announced in due course, in line with Catholic traditions.

His death leaves a leadership vacuum in the diocese as the Catholic Church prepares for the process of appointing a successor.
