Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned Nasir El-Rufai on amended charges.

Gatekeepers News reports that El-Rufai was brought before a high court in Kaduna on Monday over a revised nine-count charge bordering on alleged fraud and abuse of office.

His counsel, Ukpong Abang, told journalists that the prosecution amended the charges and removed Amadu Sule, who was initially listed as a co-defendant, leaving El-Rufai as the sole defendant in the case.

The lawyer also disclosed that the defence was only served with the amended charges in court, which prevented the case from proceeding to full hearing. He said the legal team would first review the new charges before responding.

The court subsequently took El-Rufai’s plea and considered his bail application but adjourned the matter to April 14 for hearing on the bail request.

The development comes amid multiple legal battles involving the former Governor, who had earlier been arraigned alongside other defendants in separate cases linked to alleged corruption, money laundering, and abuse of office.
