Operatives of Department of State Services (DSS), in collaboration with forest guards, have reportedly intercepted a large consignment of medical supplies suspected to be intended for wounded fighters of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Borno State.
Gatekeepers News reports that according to security sources and multiple reports, the interception was made during an ongoing surveillance and counter-terrorism operation in the North-East region.
The supplies were allegedly being transported through a forest corridor believed to be used by insurgent logistics networks.
Preliminary findings suggest the items were meant to support injured ISWAP members receiving treatment within remote hideouts. Security operatives, however, moved in based on intelligence and successfully recovered the consignment before it could reach its destination.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing to identify those behind the supply chain and determine the full network involved in moving logistics to insurgent groups operating in the Lake Chad basin.
Security agencies have continued intensified operations across Borno and surrounding states in recent months, targeting insurgent camps, supply routes, and collaborators.
Officials have not yet disclosed arrests linked to the interception, but say further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
