Shell Names Elohor Aiboni As Executive Vice President – Country Chair For Nigeria

Global energy company Shell has appointed Elohor Aiboni as its new Executive Vice President and Country Chair for Nigeria.

Gatekeeepers News reports that this makes her the first Nigerian to hold the combined leadership position in the company’s operations in the country. The appointment was announced on June 17, 2026.

Aiboni, who previously served as Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited (SNEPCo), is currently on an international assignment as Asset Director at Brunei Shell Petroleum.

Shell said her appointment reflects her more than 24 years of experience across the company’s offshore, onshore and shallow-water operations in Nigeria, as well as international postings in Kazakhstan and Brunei.

During her tenure as Managing Director of SNEPCo, Aiboni became the first woman to lead Shell’s deep-water business in Nigeria. Under her leadership, the Bonga field achieved the milestone of producing its one-billionth barrel of crude oil in 2023, while the company advanced major offshore investment projects.

Shell noted that Aiboni’s extensive experience and leadership record would be vital as the company continues to focus on deep-water and liquefied natural gas investments in Nigeria following the divestment of its onshore assets. The company remains a major player in Nigeria’s energy sector through its offshore operations and stake in Nigeria LNG.

Aiboni’s appointment is being viewed as a significant milestone for both Shell and Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, given her pioneering role as one of the few women to occupy top leadership positions within the multinational energy company.
