Troops of Operation Safe Haven have rescued eight kidnapped victims during a clearance operation in Pandam Forest in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Gatekeepers News reports that the operation was carried out after security forces received intelligence on the activities of kidnappers operating within the forest.
According to military sources, the troops stormed the suspected hideout and successfully freed the victims during the operation. The kidnappers fled the area on sighting the advancing soldiers, while security personnel continued combing the forest and surrounding communities in search of the fleeing suspects.
The rescued victims were evacuated to a safe location for medical attention and debriefing before being reunited with their families. The military said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to rid Plateau State and neighbouring areas of criminal elements responsible for kidnappings and other violent crimes.
Security authorities reiterated their commitment to sustaining offensive operations against criminal groups and urged residents to continue providing timely information that could assist troops in tracking down kidnappers and securing vulnerable communities.
