Troops of the Nigerian military have rescued 10 students who were abducted by terrorists during an attack on a school in Mussa village, Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, bringing relief to families and communities affected by the incident.

Gatekeepers News reports that the students were among dozens of pupils kidnapped when insurgents stormed the school in May, arriving on motorcycles and carting away children while classes were in session. The attack sparked nationwide concern and renewed calls for stronger security around schools in the country’s north-east.

According to reports, the rescue followed sustained military operations and intelligence-driven efforts by security forces operating in the region. Authorities said the students were recovered safely and have since been reunited with their families, while efforts continue to secure the release of any remaining captives.

The rescue comes amid ongoing operations against insurgent groups in Borno State, where troops have intensified offensives targeting terrorist enclaves and hostage camps. In recent weeks, the military has recorded several successes, including the rescue of hundreds of abductees from insurgent hideouts in the state.

Security agencies have assured residents that operations will continue until all those still in captivity are freed and those responsible for the attacks are brought to justice.
