Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for political parties to submit the names and personal particulars of their candidates for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections from July 11 to midnight on Tuesday, July 14.

The electoral body said the decision followed appeals from political parties that were unable to complete the submission process within the original timeframe. According to INEC, the extension was granted after the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) requested additional time on behalf of the affected parties.

In a statement issued by Mohammed Haruna, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, the commission explained that the extension reflects its commitment to ensuring an inclusive electoral process while remaining within the provisions of the law.

INEC urged all political parties to use the additional window to upload the names and personal particulars of their candidates before the new deadline expires, stressing that no further delay should be expected.
