All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded a landslide victory in the Edo State local government elections, winning all 18 chairmanship positions and the 192 councillorship seats contested across the state.

Gatekeepers News reports that the results were announced on Sunday by the Chairman of the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC), Jonathan Aifuobhokhan.

According to the electoral commission, the poll was conducted across the state’s 18 local government areas and 192 wards, with several political parties participating in the exercise. Aifuobhokhan said the APC emerged victorious in every chairmanship and councillorship contest held during the election.

The EDSIEC chairman stated that the election was conducted in line with relevant laws and electoral guidelines, adding that certificates of return would be presented to the successful candidates on Monday.

The outcome further strengthens the APC’s hold on grassroots governance in Edo State, following its sweeping performance across all local councils and wards in the election.
