Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed an Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) cameraman during a military operation in the Timbuktu Triangle of Borno State, while also identifying two foreign nationals believed to have played key roles in the terrorist group’s operations.

Gatekeepers News reports that according to military authorities, the operation led to the recovery of documents and intelligence materials that revealed the identities of a Palestinian national believed to have served as a terrorist trainer and a Moroccan doctor who allegedly provided medical support to injured insurgents in the Sambisa Forest and Timbuktu Triangle. The discoveries were made after troops overran several ISWAP enclaves during coordinated ground and air offensives.

The military said the slain cameraman was responsible for filming and producing propaganda videos for ISWAP, while the recovered intelligence suggested the involvement of foreign operatives in the training, logistics and medical care of the terrorist group. Security officials described the findings as a significant breakthrough in efforts to dismantle the insurgents’ support network.

The latest operation forms part of ongoing offensives by Operation Hadin Kai aimed at degrading terrorist strongholds in the North-East, with the military maintaining that sustained pressure on insurgent camps is yielding positive results in the fight against terrorism.
