Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Culpable Homicide

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a suspect, identified as Abubakar Musa, in connection with the alleged killing of a 30-year-old man, Nathaniel Yusuf, in Jambutu Ward of Yola North Local Government Area.

Gatekeepers Newreports that the command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said the arrest followed a complaint lodged at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Kofare by the deceased’s sister, Grace Yusuf, who reported that her brother had been attacked by the suspect.

According to Nguroje, police operatives responded promptly to the distress call, rescued the victim from the scene and rushed him to the Specialist Hospital, Jimeta, for emergency treatment. The suspect was also arrested at the scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim allegedly sustained severe injuries after being assaulted with a stick, including fractures to both legs, his right hand and multiple head injuries.

Despite efforts by medical personnel to save his life, Nathaniel Yusuf later died while receiving treatment at the hospital.

Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, Kabiru Umar Hassan, directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yola to take over the case to ensure a thorough investigation and diligent prosecution of the suspect in accordance with the law.

The police said the deceased’s body has been deposited at the hospital for an autopsy, while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice in the case and urged residents to remain law-abiding while continuing to provide credible information that could assist ongoing investigations.
