Troops of the 112 Task Force Battalion under Operation HADIN KAI, in collaboration with Hybrid Forces, have arrested five suspected terrorist logistics suppliers during an operation in Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Gatekeepers News reports that the operation, carried out at about 1:30 p.m. on July 20, targeted a suspected logistics network believed to be supporting terrorist activities in Nigeria’s North-East.
According to the military, the suspects were intercepted while transporting 491 cartons of Albe Stark 2.5 per cent veterinary dewormer and 100 cartons of multivitamin injections for animals without the required waybills or supporting documentation.
A search of the vehicles also uncovered concealed medical supplies, including 32 cartons of Diclofenac Sodium Injection, 58 cartons of Benzylpenicillin Sodium BP, six cartons of Dexamethasone Injection and 51 cartons of Metronidazole Intravenous Infusion.
Troops further recovered 30 units of 80-inch LG plasma televisions, 152 empty Bagco sacks and seven mobile phones.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the consignment was destined for a vendor in N’Djamena, Chad, while part of the concealed medical supplies was allegedly to be transferred to another truck near the Nigeria-Chad border in what investigators believe was an attempt to evade security screening.
The five suspects have since been handed over to the 24 Task Force Brigade for further investigation.
The military described the interception as a major breakthrough in Operation HADIN KAI’s ongoing efforts to dismantle terrorist logistics and support networks operating across the North-East.
It said disrupting suspicious supply chains and intercepting materials before they reach their intended destinations remains critical to denying terrorist groups the resources needed to sustain their operations and limiting their freedom of movement.
Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to identifying and dismantling all networks that directly or indirectly support terrorist activities in the region.
The military also urged pharmaceutical distributors, transporters, healthcare providers, humanitarian organisations and other stakeholders moving bulk medical, pharmaceutical or agrochemical products across the North-East to ensure all consignments are properly documented and, where necessary, coordinated with relevant military authorities.
According to the military, the measure is intended to facilitate legitimate commercial and humanitarian activities while preventing terrorist groups from exploiting supply chains for illicit purposes.
Operation HADIN KAI further appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely, credible intelligence to security agencies, stressing that public cooperation remains essential to disrupting terrorist logistics networks and sustaining peace and security across the region.
