Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the personal particulars of candidates contesting the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.

Gatekeepers News reports that the documents shows that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi did not attach their primary and secondary school certificates. 

The candidates’ particulars, displayed at INEC offices in local government headquarters across the country in line with the Electoral Act 2026, include their names, educational qualifications, work experience, residential addresses and sworn declarations. The commission also published the particulars of their respective running mates. 

According to the documents, President Tinubu listed only his degree from Chicago State University as his educational qualification without attaching primary or secondary school certificates. Atiku also did not include his primary and secondary school certificates, while Obi omitted both certificates despite listing his higher educational qualifications. 

INEC said the publication was carried out in accordance with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2026, which requires the commission to make candidates’ particulars available for public inspection within 21 days of receiving them.

The electoral body also reminded Nigerians that anyone who believes a candidate submitted false information or forged documents may seek legal redress as provided by law.
