President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to declare open an international conference on security and national unity in Abuja on Tuesday, August 11.
Gatekeepers News reports that the conference, organised by Jama’atu Izalatil Bidiah wa Iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS Nigeria) in collaboration with the Muslim World League of Saudi Arabia, will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre.
The event is themed “International Conference on Security for Sustainable Socio-economic Development” and is expected to bring together stakeholders to deliberate on Nigeria’s security challenges and their impact on economic and social development.
The conference will focus on issues including terrorism, kidnapping, banditry and other security threats confronting the country. Discussions are also expected to examine ways of strengthening national unity, peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.
According to the organisers, the gathering will provide a platform for government officials, religious and traditional leaders, security stakeholders and other participants to exchange ideas on addressing insecurity and promoting stability.
The conference is expected to feature discussions on national security, socio-economic development, counter-terrorism and armed banditry, as well as strategies for strengthening communities affected by insecurity.
The event is scheduled to commence at 9am on Tuesday and continue until Wednesday.
The announcement comes amid renewed concerns over insecurity across parts of Nigeria, with political leaders and other stakeholders calling for stronger measures to protect lives and property.
