Federal Government has deployed a special passport intervention team to the United Kingdom to accelerate the processing of passport applications for Nigerians living in the country.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) dispatched the team on the directive of Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior. The team is expected to arrive in the UK on Monday and work with the Nigerian High Commission to conduct passport enrolment and processing.
The intervention is designed to assist Nigerians with pending applications, first-time applicants and those seeking to renew passports that have less than one year before expiry.
According to the NIS, the team will visit designated cities across the UK as part of the exercise, with the specific locations and dates to be announced.
Applicants participating in the intervention are expected to have their completed passport application forms and evidence of payment available during enrolment.
The immigration service said a detailed schedule containing the cities, dates, venues and enrolment times would be released. It advised applicants not to travel to any location until the official schedule is published.
The NIS also urged Nigerians in the UK to follow the official communication channels of the Nigerian High Commission for updates on the exercise.
The latest intervention is part of the Federal Government’s efforts to improve passport services for Nigerians in the diaspora and reduce delays in processing applications.
