JUST IN: Tinubu Names Olumuyiwa Enitan New Head Of Civil Service

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, with the appointment taking effect from August 27, 2026.

Gatekeepers News reports that Enitan, who is currently the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, will succeed Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is due to retire from the Federal Civil Service after attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.

According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Enitan is the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.

The new Head of Service, who is from Osun State, has served as a Permanent Secretary for seven years and seven months. During his career, he worked at the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice President.

Enitan is a graduate of the University of Lagos, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Banking in 1988. He brings extensive institutional experience and knowledge of the operations of the Federal Civil Service to the new position.

President Tinubu commended Walson-Jack for her service to the country, particularly the reforms, innovations and institutional improvements recorded during her tenure.

The President charged Enitan to consolidate ongoing reforms in the Civil Service, deepen professionalism and efficiency, and build a more effective and responsive public service capable of delivering on the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Tinubu also urged the incoming Head of Service to promote a Civil Service that is professional, merit-driven, accountable, innovative and responsive to the needs of Nigerians.
