Adeleke Receives Certificate Of Return – Promises Continued Progress In Osun

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has received his Certificate of Return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following his victory in the August 15 governorship election.

Gatekeepers News reports that Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, secured 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 444,815 votes. The ADC candidate, Salaam, came third with 17,180 votes.

The Governor won 19 local government areas, while the APC candidate secured victory in the remaining 11 LGAs.

Speaking after receiving the certificate, Adeleke said he had forgiven those who offended him during the election period, stressing that he would govern for all residents of the state.

He said the election victory represented a triumph for Osun and vowed to continue moving the state forward.

“I am the Governor of all,” Adeleke said, adding that he had “brought the light to Osun State” and would ensure that the state did not return to what he described as darkness.

The Governor’s victory was formally recognised with the presentation of the certificate by INEC on Wednesday, alongside his deputy, Kola Adewusi.

The certificate presentation came amid tension in Osogbo, where Adeleke’s convoy was reportedly attacked by suspected hoodlums after he visited the palace of the Ataoja of Osogbo, Jimoh Oyetunji. His security personnel reportedly repelled the attackers, with no casualty reported.

Adeleke’s remarks followed a closely contested election that saw him secure a second term in office. He pledged to remain focused on the development of Osun State and called for unity among residents following the election.
