President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has constituted the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council ahead of 2027 election, appointing former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General.
Gatekeepers News reports that the campaign council was unveiled on Saturday, August 22, with Tinubu serving as Chairman, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, were named Vice Chairmen.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole was appointed Deputy Director-General in charge of Mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff will serve as Deputy Director-General for Administration. James Faleke was also named Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, will serve as Secretary of the campaign council. APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, and Hadiza Bala-Usman were appointed Deputy Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively.
Other key appointments include Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun as Director of Fundraising, while Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni are among those appointed Deputy Directors-General for different regions.
The Media and Strategic Communication Directorate will be coordinated by Information and National Orientation Minister Mohammed Idris, alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu. Segun Dada was named Director of New Media.
According to the Presidency, Tinubu directed members of the campaign council to work towards securing victory for the APC in the 2027 presidential election. He also urged the various directorates to reach out to party members who were not included in the formal structure but could contribute to the campaign.
The President said the campaign team should communicate the achievements of his administration and build confidence among Nigerians as APC begins its nationwide mobilisation for the 2027 election.
