Reality TV star Josephina Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, and actress Nkechi Blessing are set to face each other in a celebrity boxing bout on October 1, 2026.
Gatekeepers News reports that the fight, tagged “Phyna vs Nkechi,” is scheduled to take place at the Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos as part of the “Chaos in the Ring” series organised by Balmoral Group Promotions.
The organisers announced the matchup following a recent social media exchange between the two entertainers. Promotional materials described the contest as a rivalry that would be settled in the ring.
“Plot twist? Let’s see what the women can do. Phyna VS Nkechi,” the organisers wrote. “The rivalry is real. Now, let’s see who backs it up when the bell rings.”
The event will be broadcast live on DAZN and SuperSport and is powered by Bet9ja.
Nkechi had earlier criticised Phyna over her frequent online confrontations, saying she appeared to “fight with everybody.” Phyna subsequently responded to the actress, questioning the reason for her comments.
The upcoming contest is part of a growing series of celebrity boxing events in Nigeria. Other entertainers who have featured in previous bouts include Portable, Charles Okocha, Speed Darlington and Carter Efe.
Carter Efe and Speed Darlington are also scheduled to face each other on the October 1 card.
Details of the rules, number of rounds, undercard and ticketing arrangements for the Phyna-Nkechi bout had yet to be announced by the organisers as of Monday.
