Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) will hold a special national prayer for Nigeria on September 30, ahead of the country’s Independence Day anniversary.
Gatekeepers News reports that Abbas Jimoh, NSCIA public affairs officer, announced this in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday. He said the prayer would take place from 4:30pm to 6:30pm at the Abuja National Mosque Complex.
According to Jimoh, the programme is intended to provide Muslims with an opportunity to collectively seek Allah’s guidance, protection, peace and blessings for Nigeria and its citizens.
He said the council would also hold its general assembly at the same venue on October 1.
The general assembly, according to the NSCIA, is the council’s highest decision-making organ and its largest gathering. The council called on invited members, representatives and stakeholders from across the country to make adequate arrangements to attend the two-day programme.
NSCIA also urged Muslims across Nigeria to use the occasion to pray for continued peace, unity, security, good governance and sustainable development in the country.
“The Council reiterates its commitment to promoting unity among Muslims, fostering peaceful coexistence and supporting efforts towards the stability and progress of Nigeria,” the statement said.
