Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Sada Tambai, over the alleged killing of his 80-year-old father, Adamu Tambai, in Mundadu Village, Bindawa Local Government Area of the state.
Gatekeepers News reports that the incident reportedly occurred on September 21, 2026, after the police received a distress call from the District Head of Bindawa, Dan Yusufan Katsina.
According to the police, the victim, a former Ward Head of Mundadu Village, was found lying motionless in front of his residence. Detectives were subsequently deployed to the area and the elderly man was taken to a nearby hospital, where a doctor confirmed his death.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, said preliminary investigations led to the arrest of the deceased’s son.
He said the suspect allegedly confessed during interrogation to hitting his father on the head with a stick, resulting in injuries that caused his death.
“Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the deceased’s son, Sada Tambai (27). During interrogation, the suspect confessed to hitting his father on the head with a stick, resulting in his fatal injuries.”
Following the arrest, the Commissioner of Police, Ali Umar Fage, ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a discreet and thorough investigation.
The police said the suspect would be arraigned in court after investigations are concluded.
The command also expressed condolences to the deceased’s family and assured residents that it remained committed to ensuring justice in the matter.
