Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will hold a National Stakeholders’ Meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, October 6, as preparations for the 2027 general elections enter the final 100-day stretch.
Gatekeepers News reports that the commission disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday by Adedayo Oketola, chief press secretary and media adviser to INEC Chairman, Joash Amupitan.
According to INEC, the meeting will provide updates on preparations for the elections, including the voters’ register, candidate nominations, logistics and measures to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.
Amupitan is expected to address the meeting alongside other key stakeholders involved in the electoral process.
INEC said the National Stakeholders’ Meeting was part of its commitment to transparency, public communication and collaboration with actors involved in the electoral process.
Political party leaders, security agencies under the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES), members of the diplomatic corps, development partners and civil society organisations are expected to attend.
Election observer groups, disability rights advocates, religious and traditional leaders, youth organisations and media executives are also expected at the meeting.
The meeting will take place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (BAT-ICC), Abuja, from 10am.
INEC said the event will be broadcast live on major national television networks and streamed on its official social media platforms. Attendance at the venue will be strictly by invitation.
The engagement comes as the commission intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the electoral body expected to provide stakeholders with an update on its readiness and the key processes ahead of the polls.
