President Bola Tinubu has prayed for an end to insecurity, lasting peace and national unity in Nigeria during his performance of the lesser Hajj (Umrah) in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
Gatekeepers News reports that the President performed the Islamic pilgrimage early Friday at the Grand Mosque, Masjid al-Haram, where he circumambulated the Holy Ka’abah in an act of worship, devotion and thanksgiving to Almighty Allah.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the spiritual exercise, Tinubu described the pilgrimage as significant, noting that it reflected his commitment to Nigerians, his presidential responsibilities and his faith in Allah.
“I believe this Umrah is very significant for the love of our people, commitment to the job and our country, Nigeria; commitment to the will of Allah that His words must prevail, and that there’s no other God but Him and He’s the only one that makes a human being what he can be and what he would be in life,” he said.
The President expressed gratitude to Allah for the opportunity to undertake the spiritual exercise and offer prayers for the country and its people.
“We have just prayed for our nation, for everyone to live in peace and harmony, happiness and faith in God Almighty,” he added.
According to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu also sought divine guidance for the nation’s leaders and prayed for stronger bonds of brotherhood among Nigerians.
He further asked Allah to grant the country lasting relief from insecurity and other challenges, while expressing hope for sustained economic prosperity and social development.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a peaceful, united and prosperous Nigeria where citizens, regardless of their religious beliefs or backgrounds, could live in safety, dignity and harmony.
Tinubu’s pilgrimage comes as Nigeria continues to grapple with security challenges, including insurgency, banditry and other forms of violent crime across different parts of the country.
The President’s prayers focused on national stability, peaceful coexistence and a more secure future for Nigerians.
