Several people were left surprised Thursday morning when news emerged that Queen Silekunola Naomi had quit her role as the Queen of Ile-Ife and the wife of the Ooni of Ife.
Gatekeepers News Reports that the queen exclusively told this medium about her decision to leave the Ooni’s palace.
Queen Naomi, an Evangelist, married the traditional ruler in October 2018 and they welcomed a child, Prince Tadenikawo Ogunwusi together in November 2020.
In a statement first seen by Gatekeepers News, the mother of one gave several reasons why she left the first class monarch.
Ooni Doesn’t Have Another Queen
Queen Naomi told Gatekeepers News that, contrary to rumours that the Ooni had another queen, she was the only married wife to him.
She, however, noted that there were “side attractions” during the course of their marriage.
“Few impressions I would love to correct. If anyone knows otherwise, they are free to come up with facts. Let it be known that this decision to move on did not come because his majesty is married to another queen. As many would love to assume, throughout our life as a couple, I was the only married wife to him. There were side attractions, but it was never an issue,” Queen Naomi told this medium.
Rumours Of An Arranged Marriage
The queen also dismissed rumours that her marriage to the Ooni of Ife was arranged.
“I never approached him with any revelation of any sort, as many believed he contacted me first and made his proposal known several months later,” she told Gatekeepers News.
“The marriage was not an arranged one, as many have misconstrued. I never knew the prophetess said to have introduced me to him. Instead, he introduced her to me after I agreed to marry him. I was only being polite out of respect for him.”
Did Queen Naomi Have A Child Before She Had Her Son With Ooni Of Ife?
Queen Naomi went further to deny rumours that she had a daughter before she birthed her son with the Ooni, Tadenikawo.
“I have never been pregnant all my life before Tadenikawo; my son is my first ever pregnancy with medical reports to back it up The girl who is said to be my daughter is my niece,” she said.
Smiling Through The Struggle
Furthermore, Queen Naomi told Gatekeepers News of her struggles during the course of the marriage, saying she did her best to make things work.
“I did my best to endure and make it work; many times, I smiled through the struggle, but I have finally realised I had just one assignment, my son, and when God is done, He is done. He chose Saul to be king, and when He was done, He told the prophet Samuel I have moved on,” she said.
Religion As An Issue
Conclusively, Queen Naomi clarified that religion was never an issue between the couple.
“Religion was never an issue between us; please refer to my interview on News Central TV. Instead, His Majesty has a picture he would love the world to see and perceive him as and another one which is his true self,” she told Gatekeepers News.
Recall that Olori Wuraola (Zaynab Otiti-Obanor) also left as wife of the Ooni in August 2017.
