Former President Goodluck Jonathan has officially dumped the (People’s Democratic Party) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State.
Gatekeepers News reports that Jonathan will be contesting for the Presidency on the party’s platform, according to a source in the ex-President’s camp.
The development comes barely 48 hours after Jonathan distanced himself from moves by some groups to draft him into the 2023 presidential race.
A Northern group had purchased the Presidential Nomination and Expression of Interest forms on his behalf.
“Buying a presidential aspiration form in the name Dr Jonathan without his consent, knowing the position he had held in this country, is considered an insult to his person,” Jonathan had said in a statement signed by his Media Adviser, Ikechukwu Eze.
On Wednesday, a source told journalists that Jonathan was expected to submit his completed forms on Thursday.
According to him, the former president had secured the support of the required number of APC delegates from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“Several bigwigs of the party have also been calling Jonathan to pledge their loyalty and support to the former president,’’ the source revealed.
